Hi, my name is Tony and I'm a new member of your forum. I recently decide to restore my 1997 ford explorer. I've had the vehicle since 2000 and it's such a good vehicle. Well thats enough about me and the vehicle. Lets get to the problem I've created. First, my driver side rear would not open. My son was able to get the door open sometimes but after playing with it so much he broke the exterior latch. Also the door could not be open from the inside either. I ended up purchasing some panel pry tools and I was able to get the door paneling off and get the door open. I found that the door lock actuator was bad. So I purchased one and I also purchase an exterior door handle. I wouldn't say I'm a machanic but I feel I've learn a lot from reading and watching youtube video's. I've been very successful on all of my projects. I was so happy to get the door open because it's been several years since its been open I got in a hurry and I didn't proceed like I should have. First, I new better to remove the battery post but I didn't and I think I grounded something because my passenger side window was working before I started the project. Also, I end up having to purchase the door latch because I didn't remove the wire for the interior light and I broke the wire. I'm on vacation and I'm waiting on the door latch to come in which it should be in Monday. I didn't check the fuse because all the other windows are working. Neither the driver side nor the passenger side door switch work. You don' t even hear the motor when you used the switchs. So I'm guessing no power is getting to the motor. Never had problems with this side. Do any one have any suggestions are maybe ni where I should start. Thanks!
