I just had a thought come to me: would there be enough room on the passenger side for a gas tank? It wouldn't hafta be a full size tank, even a small one would do. I was thinking someone could put one on the passenger side and one where the spare tire goes along with the stock one. It would, you know, increase fuel capacity

I knew you could put one in the back I was just wondering if there'd be room for one on the passenger side. Thanks for the reply

Why not just carry a few gas cans?

Much easier to just stick a nozzle in a tank and fill it at the station. Gas cans are a pain in the .........

It was just a thought that came to mind. I'm thinking about strapping a 5 or 6 gallon gas can on the roof like they do in in the cold regions of Canada and Alaska. The only problem I would have with that is the gas being stolen what with the high prices. I would put a couple on the rear bumper, but I don't have my custom one built yet

Putting gas cans on top leave allot of weight up there-- it makes a lifted truck allot more "Wiggly" just sayin' from experiance.

Hm, I never thought of that... Good point, Flip

what kind of body/suspension lift would I need to do the BII tank in the rear? The stickied thread on here used a tank out of an E150 van

I have seen a Few People on here , TRS and Pirate 4x4 , Use either the Bronco II tank or the Van E-150 Tank in place of the Spare tire carrier . I would Like to see someone Install a BII or E-150 Tank Along with the stock Tank , Just to see how Much work it would be to have Dual Tanks like the 90's Gas F-250's !! .

I found a 3" body lift for a Ranger in the Sioux Falls Craigslist and it got me to thinking "that might work for my Explorer and then I can put a BII tank in the rear. I just don't remember how far that tank hangs down past the frame rails

I have a SOA and 6" front and run a BII tank- it does't hag down that far at all. I did not notice any difference in wheeling. It just kinda bolted up after the spare tire stuff was removed :-)

I'm Pretty sure without the spare tire mount and a 3" Body lift it Would barely hang down past the frame rails , I have seen it done more than a handful of times .

Okay thanks for the info on the BL
