Does anyone have any infor about the BII gas tank and adding one?
I don't carry a spare under the back, and I could use more fuel for long trips.
Seems it should be easy to add a second tank.
Anyone?

Its a bit more tricky then you think, but it has and can be done.

the exporer has a x member back there that would have to be removed and a couple that may need to be modified.

Without a body lift it will also hang down really low, and you will need to make hangers for it, make longer fuel lines, modify yur fill hose, etc.

Its a big deal, teh BII tank is 23 gallons though

Easier to carry a 5 gal gas can. Or several.

I would need 5 gas cans to carry at least 23 gallons.
Lots of the trails I run are a quite remote. I carry a lot of stuff, so making use of all that space under the EX would be nice.
I can cut the crossmembers, no problem there. Any ideas on a switching valve? Maybe get one off a dual tank truck?
One thing about 2 tanks is that if a pump dies you can run the other one.

ranger is a good source for a dual tank setup, and that secondary tank may fit your Explorer well.

Are you opposed to aftermarket tanks? cutting your floor?

Take a look at FAWKARWEE's Navajo (I believe thats the one?) He installed a trick larger tank into his two door Ex.

the late 80's-early 90's ranger long bed sometimes had dual tanks, with the switches, lines and pumps.
Thats where I would start for dual tanks.
