Last night some A-hole decided to knock my passenger mirror off its mounts and Smashed the mirror itself. I was able to pop the housing back onto the door.

How much would it cost to replace the whole thing or just the mirror itself? Plus the power option is no longer working.

Anyone with some help?

thanks in advance

When I set my 94 on its side (didn't see that rock), my driver side mirror was crushed. Ford wants $260 for the electric mirror. I realized I dont need it that bad.
Check out http://www.fordpartsnetwork.com/

Sorry to hear about that. Well I have just recently replaced both my mirrors on my 95'. The first mirror I bought, I went to a body shop and they got it from ford and installed it and it cost me $160.00. The next one I bought from a guy who works at ford and installed this one myself and it cost me $120.00. They are the electric mirrors too. Hope this helps some.

Superfreak,

Before you shell out money to replace the mirror, is it still under warranty?

Update on my Mirror problem..

Fellas,
I just noticed the power option still works so I figured I could get the actual mirror and replace that. So I stopped at the ford dealer and I can't get just the mirror but they said I have to buy the whole stinking mirror assemble for about $130. I said see ya.

I already found the mirror assembly online for $68 but that's about 58 more dollars than I want to spend. found it at www.autobodypartsonline.com.

Does anyone know where I can get just the replacement glass/mirror.

Thanks

Junk yard? Rangers and Explorers should be the same right?

Superfreak, I don't think that you can do this like they said at the dealer. I say this because when I pulled my mirror (just the glass piece) off it was held on by a little plastic bracket in the middle of the mirror. It looks like that piece is molded together somehow and that is what actually holds the mirror on is this little piece. So from my experience I would also have to say that you need to buy the whole assembly.

Ok, I'll tell you my story... one week after I bought my brand new '99 Explorer... a BIG 18 wheeler truck hit and smashed my driver side mirror. The only thing that broke was the mirror, the housing was ripped forward but I was able to bend it back, there were no marks on the my truck or the mirror housing. The other guy gave me $200 cash because he didn't want to go thru insurance, I accepted, no paper work exchanged.

I went Ford and basically said I was driving down the road, went over a bump and my mirror fell out and broke. They replaced it, no questions asked.

Go to an Auto glass place. I had the mirror in mine replaced for $20

How difficult is it to replace the passenger side mirror? Mine recently broke and I bought a new one for $60 from www.autobodypartsonline.com. Just wanna know if this is something that I could do in under an hour?

Probably

First you have to remove the door panel which is all that bad. There's three nuts holding the mirror housing on.

That's about all there is , putting the door panel back on is harder than removing it.

hope this helps

In some states, you don't even need a passenger side mirror, although it is nice to have. My 91 passed a safety inspection (Ohio) without a passenger side mirror.
Other than that, a glass shop should be able to cut you a new mirror.

In Texas you need 2 out of the 3 mirrors to pass inspection.
