I have an 03 Ford Sport Trac 4.0 4x4 automatic. I can see my O2 sensor on the passenger side but the wires go up and over the top of the tranny and disappears. Can anybody tell me how you find where the connector is and if it is accessible so I can change it? Thanks guys.

BUMP. So nobody with an automatic Sport Trac I guess has ever changed their O2 sensor on the passenger side? The ONLY way to get to the connector I've finally found is from top down between the plenum and firewall but there is no way to get enough grip on the connector to disconnect it due to a lack of space. ANYBODY have a clue how to do this? I am dead in my tracks on this one. :( Thanks guys.

One of the members mentioned that he thought there is an access panel to get to the back side of the engine from under the carpet below the console. Can anybody confirm if there is such a panel under the carpet of the 03 Explorer/Sport Trac? Thanks again.

pre or post cat?

I don't know about your Sport Trac but on my 2000 Sport the pre cat O2 connectors on either side are extremely difficult to access.

The engine harness connector is supposed to be attached to the back of the heads. I think the O2 sensor and transmission connectors are visible if you remove the passenger side wheel and inner splash shield.

I cheated and disconnected mine after disconnecting the engine from the transmission to replace valve timing components and connected them prior to bolting the engine up to the transmission because I couldn't get my hand up in there.

As I recall the post cat O2 connector on the passenger side is above the servo heat shield. I doubt it is visible from below but I think I found it with my hand following the wire. Make sure your exhaust is cool or you'll get infrared burns.

On my Sport there is an access panel under the carpet but its a pain to get to. Even with it removed I doubt there is access thru the opening to the connectors between the block and the firewall. Thanks a million. I actually stumbled upon the backside pic in a google search. I agree that the real only way to get to the connector will be thru the wheel well. Thanks again for reply and great pics.
