So my door froze shut last night and took a bit of effort to open this morning. I got it open but now something broke and it will not latch shut.. I had to drive to work holding it shut (hard to do when you are turning right)

Now the PATS system will not let me start it.. The theft light blinks slow when you get in, and when i turn the key to on, it stays solid for about 10 seconds then shuts off.

Do I now have a deeper problem besides the door latch? or if I fix the door latch will it be back to normal?

Or can I unplug the battery for a while and it might reset itself?

I don't know about the PATS system being tied to the door latch...but, I have experienced the same problem with the driver door latch freezing on my '04 Sable so that it won't latch when I shut it. And, I've had to drive with one hand holding it shut until the heat from inside the cabin thaws the frozen latch "jaw" mechanism that catches the door jamb striker. I make it a point each Fall to lubricate the latch...but, I still have occasional problems. Spray some de-icer on the latch jaw, inside the key hole and anywhere else you can reach if you can't get it into a warm garage and work it back and forth manually until it moves freely. Hopefully, this will cure your problem.

You have a mechanical problem, not an electrical one. Disconnecting the battery will have no effect. It has nothing to do with PATS.

Yup, Thanks guys, I confirmed with the master PATS thread that without a rapid blinking theft left, it is not a pats issue. So now I have it ruled down to a no start, no crank situation.
(also,it warmed up enough and i got the door shut!)
