PCM (computer) question

When replacing a pcm for a 1996 explorer do I need to flash it. Also If I use a PCM out of a Sohc engine will it work? Thanks!

On a 96, you should not have to flash it, but it does have to be an exact match for the powertrain combination you have. You need to match the codes on the modules. An SOHC module will definitely NOT work.

What engine and trans combo do you have and is it 2wd, 4x4, AWD etc? I have a 97 PCM I pulled for my 96 and ended up not needing it. Threw it in my 96 and it ran fine, just didn't fix the issues I had. It's for a 97 AWD V8; if you happen to have that combo in your 96 and want it just shoot me a PM.
