PCV valve on V6?????

Can someone tell me if there is a PCV valve on a 2001 Exp. 4x4 V6 sohc engine? Where the heck is it? I have a terrible miss at idle, and my gas mileage went down to 12 mpg. I replaced spark plugs and wires. Any suggestions?

It is supposedly at the back of the valve cover on the left side (driver side) of the engine , facing the firewall. I have as yet been unable to positively identify mine. I think I have found it, but what I have found won't come off easily, and I am afraid to get brutal with it as it might not be the PCV and then I would have a real problem, I hope this helps you.
