I'm leaking trn fluid above the tranfercase drain pan, I think the leak is coming from where the valve body bolts to trncase. Is there a gasket here and if so is this something I can do myself. Could this be a more serious prob? Almost forgot, its a 2000 sport 4.0. 150,000 no service history.

Automatic?

My standard tranny bolts to my transfer case and there is a gasket there but there is also a drain slot to allow any leakage from the seals on the back of the tranny and the front of the t-case to escape. There is no fluid in the housing between the tcase and tranny in my first gen. I don`t know for sure if it is the same in 2nd gens, but I would think it is the same.
