What would be best Cold Air Intake system for the money? I was looking at this AFE for $155, on sale. It has a maximum 50 horsepower gain on it.

50 Horsepower......... LMAO ... no way in 20 years will it give you 50 horsepower for any STOCK vehicle let alone a beefed up one.

Now they will only give you about 5-6 extra horsepower over the STOCK air hookup.

According to K&N their complete filter and cold air intake setup adds 3.5HP. Like another member said, HP is NOT cheap, and I agree, but 3.5HP?

That's the effectiveness of highly effective marketing strategies. People will actually purchase it, no matter what the cost or actual benefit.

Now, it DOES look good!!!

i have a volant on my 2000 4.o ohv.just got it like a month ago.but for $280.00....it does look really nice.sounds great to! bot the $30.00 cone filter from autozone sounded good to.and i can't really tell if there is a difference over the autozone cone filter or the volant???im sure there is,but not really a $280.00 difference.

That's a stage 1 kit - airbox and filter only. Kinda pricey for a filter.

Can't you just buy a cone style filter at AutoZone that will fit into the factory location and box? I believe they are like $30 (?).

I think the MAC has been rated one of the best at $160. The only way in hell you would EVER come CLOSE to seeing 50hp gain from an intake is if you had a supra or something highly modded. I'm talking the supra I'm sure some have seen being dynoed at 900hp. You put literally a straw from Mc.Donalds on it for an intake, dynoed, then put "CAI" (Which aren't even cold air) on.

I made my own which resembles the MAC intake and I expect I got 2hp at best.

...i have one on my X with the stock tube...included with a flowmaster40 exhaust...

...i believe all the brands would be an improvement but, kkm specificly designed these for our applications......if you search cai on here you will find some more info...but here is an e.f. product link...

You could do the same thing as the KKM for cheap. Go to pep boys and they have the adapters to fit on the MAF then get a amsoil ea air filter for $40ish. You'd be looking at $60 - $70 for everything and it would be identical with a better filter.

Supra at 900HP? Have you seen the Mustang on youtube that MAXED out the dyno? It was 2 THOUSAND HP and sounded like a jet taking off.
