okay, so i made a thread 2 days ago about not being able to get my car started without the key fob. i got it started by grounding the factory system dk.green/purple wire to ground, and there is some mystery system in the front under the dash above the e-brake. that system i finally found a broken push button switch that i spliced together to get it running. i need some serious input here lol. i call ford, they quoted me around 800-1k! my system is in NO WAY like any of the ones ive researched online. i have a 2button fob(GOH-M24) this is the key fob:
and it took me FOREVER to find any like it online...
in the back of the truck in front of the jack and water tank i have the standard system that a 97 explorer is supposed to have like this:
(and i called that number on the box nd they dont work lmao:thumbdwn
i have a normal non pats key and ignition. under the dash i found a yellow relay which i believe is the starter kill. from what ive gathered i should have this under the dash:
but i DO NOT have that. i just have the yellow relay, a roundish box that i beilive is the shock sensor that has a red light on it and a small white adjuster. the shock sensor is suspended by zip ties. and there is also another box way further up the dash with relays, and then finally there is a black box with one large(18pin i think?) connecter, a 4 pin long plug, another 4 pin plug, but its square, and lastly a 2 pin connecter at the end. this box is thin and has no marking on it of any kind and was hung up by zip ties aswell.
this is the only car ive got, and i really dont have the cash 4 a mechanic or new car right now. im hoping someone could help shed some light on what im looking at. is there a way to just disable them both? (and unplugging doesnt work on either of them! lol) and would i still have a horn if i disable them? could i use the dk.green/purple wire-ground for the rear system, and the spliced together disable switch for the front as a permanent way to disable? srry about all these questions, but im pretty f-ed right now with this car lol
