pet barriers

ok, i am gonna have to get one of those pet barrier things for my truck soon so the little devil can't run around in there and try to lick me while i am driving. anyone have one of the metal wall type that divide the cargo area from the rest of the car? just wanted to see how anyone likes them, if they work, easy to take down? thanks..

just tell the dog not to lick you
it works for me....my friends have those and say they are a pain to take down. also the rubber pads to prevent scratches still leave scratches and turn things black....

yeah i figured the rubber pad things would still leave marks but ive got so many stains and stuff on my interior that it doesn't really matter to me. the difficulty in taking them down is nice to know. thanks for the input

I have one and I generally like it. Got mine from a mail order place:

The part# is 9N-9589 and the picture they have of it actually looks like it is a black Lab in an Explorer (I have a yellow Lab and an Ex, but that is beside the point). The pluses are it expands to whatever size you need, so you can always sell it to someone else or put it in a different truck/van/wagon; and it is cheap, $40. The downside is that the adjustable nature means that it consists of two metal tubes: one inside the other. If the tubes are not tightly held in place (and even sometimes when they are) they will rattle against each other. Usually, it doesn't rattle, or else I would have chucked it long ago, but ocassionally it will. I'd take it out if you go offroading, as it will surely rattle a lot then. Removal and replaceing it is fairly simple: one person and a few minutes. Hope this helps.

BTW, I have had mine 1.5 yrs and put it into a brand new Ex. So far, no black marks in the ceiling of truck. On the floor, I have 2x4" wood blocks for the bottom of barrier to rest on so they have nice flat surface to brace against.

I just got this but haven't had a chance to try it out.

One end clips to the licker's collar and the other end plugs into the seat belt.

I if you put him/her in the back seat and clip them in, they probably can't go too wild.

I have recently bought one for my '93 to keep my choc. lab pup from jumping on me while I'm driving. I got mine from Pets Mart- I've also seen them in the JCWhitney catalogs. Mine cost $50, went in real easy, does not leave any black marks (!). As stated earlier, mine also does rattle, but a little ingenuity will fix this when I put some rubber in a couple of spots. I definately recommend it. My dog is safer and calmer with his "area" in the back.
