Photo Diagnosis please...

more pics

I snapped a few more pics. This first pic is another "oil" leak it appears. I don't know what this item is, but its further back under the truck.

You can see how shiny with oil it is, and on the bottom of the hump you can see a brown drop that is getting ready to drip. The leak appears to be coming from around the edges of this entire thing. It seems to have a top and bottom and where they are bolted together is seeping oil. This pic is shot from the passenger side. There is a cross beam of the frame that runs just behind this. It is splattered with oil which must be blowing onto it while driving.

Those are pics of your tranny. I really wouldn't worry about it. There isnt a lot of oil around the pan/tranny.
Keep an eye on it though.

about the coolant loss

I had a similar problem with my old '94 Dakota. I was losing coolant but could not find any leaks. It turns out the water pump was leaking (maybe not the problem in your case) but I couldn't find the leak becuase it only leaked when the coolant was under pressure and the hot engine would evaporate the coolant instantly. When the engine cooled down so it wouldn't evaporate the coolant anymore there was no longer enough pressure on the system to cause it to leak.
I finally found the leak by using a light and a mirror to look all around and under EVERY place water could leak on the engine. I didn't find any wet places but under the water pump (what turned out to be the culprit) I noticed that the engine block had a greenish color to it. (orange if you're using extended life antifreeze) I replaced the water pump and never had any more problems.
So just look around for a dry, green (or orange) discoloration. Replace the part or seal that the discoloration is coming from and hopefully that will solve your problem.

I would get the oil sending unit fixed ASAP. Mine started pouring out oil while driving on the highway. Not fun. Its pretty cheap too if I remember right.

Tim,
Forget that long cord stuff. haha
Tape it and play it back with an illustrative narrative.
Maybe we can "hot wire" that "photo" thing place where we drop pics.
If we can, do you think we can bring their storage and bandwidth to its knees? Site to site could work......but time to stop.
Keep working on that leak... you'll get it... this ain't rocket science. Anyone have an antifreeze sniffing dog?
