Hello, i am soon to buy a 2004 ford explorer 4.0 xlt 4x4 with around 75,000 miles. The explorer has been sitting for around 2 year and has not moved much! I know these explorer's are very problem prone in the transmission area, and i want to be safe that i do not have any premature problems if possible! Should i flush the transmission? what should i have the mechanic look at and if everything checks out good is there anything i should put into the fuel to help the explorers transmission? This is going to be my bad weather car, and will not be driven on a daily basis, but i do not want to buy this explorer and be stuck with a turd that i am constantly sinking money into. So if anyone has and recommendations or preventative measure they would recommend for me to take it would be greatly appreciated!
