Here are some pics of my new custom catback exhaust that I got today. The muffler is a Flowmaster 40 with 2.25 pipe and a stainless steel oval tip. I wanted something with a nice, deep sound but not obnoxiously loud. The shop pulled that off nicely. I love it.

heh just like mine.. except i went wit 2.5" pipe
I shoulda gone with 2.25 i think

looks real nice. the tip is perfect.

Heh, about the tip....

I pull into the shop today, after rushing to get there after school, and the guy says that the oval tip that I ordered did not come in like it was supposed to. He tried to talk me into a 4 inch slash cut tip (I was like, eh, no). I wasn't too happy. Then he goes into the back of his shop and comes back with this tip you see in the pics. It was exactly what I was looking for. It is actually an Escalade tip. The guy cleaned it up for me and welded it on. I think it looks a lot better than the one I ordered.

looks good Hartman. and the 40 isnt loud inside? man, mine pressurizes the interior to the point it sounds like one 15" sub hitting a continous tone at like 30Hz. must only do that on the V8...

Pretty cool. My 40 is very loud inside at certain RPM's. I'm sure it depends on a lot of stuff though. That's a cool tip you got yourself! I was thinking that looked like an Esca tip.

James, yours is dumped, that makes a big difference. Mine is loud when I'm driving, but not too loud, and it doesn't drone on the highway.

The whole way home this morning (3 hours) from school mine was droning like....well i cant think of anything clever that drones a lot. I thought I was gonna go nuts, my car is running like all hell and is missing and is goin in the shop this mornin and that had a lot to do with it. It has never done this before, hopefully never again either.

I am very impressed, that tip looks so awesome like that hartman, good job man.

hey hartman what do you mean when you say it is "dumped"

do you ever have trouble finding your truck at night in dark parking lots? i never realized how black your truck was! if it wasnt for the rear bumper, emblem, and that tip i dont think i woulda seen your car in that pic.

the tip is very sweet lookin too. what is stock size diameter? i coulda sworn i read it was 2.25 but maybe its only 2"? anabolic frolic why did u say you should have gone with 2.25 piping instead of 2.5

i have no visible exhaust exit. it "dumps" under the vehicle. this can make the sound waves bounce between the ground and the bottom of the truck, which can create standing waves, which makes things unGodly loud.

actually, its not THAT loud outside the truck. it sounds like a combination of a long tube header mustang, and a big block. i have alot of mustang friends who love the way it sounds (even though it is slow:D ). it just drones bad on the interior.

In retrospect i think 2.25" would have been a better choice for the V6 motor. With the 2.5" pipe all mandrel bent - the exhaust system only seemed to provide gains in the top end power.. and pretty much left the bottom end like stock.
I beleive the stock exhaust is 2" and not mandrel bent.. And even if it was 2.25" stock - a mandrel bent 2.25 would still be more free flowing, however at the same time providing a better amount of backpressure to help increase the low end power
