Pics of tri-sub box under construction

Yup, just trim around the subs, then take a black marker or whatever color your carpet is and color the wood so that you cant tell the carpet is missing.

OK, this is just me. From my experience with building boxes and carpeting them. I have, and would, trim the carpet fibers themselves around the sub, not the complete carpet and backing. This can be done with scissors or a beard trimmer. I have done this for 2 reasons. 1, the carpet will prolly shrink a little over time, this will make the area around the subs look real stupid if bare wood is showing. 2, the rubber backing, by itself, will create a great seal between the sub and box. However you do it, if you use all the screw holes and all grab the MDF well (which is difficult) you will create I good seal. About grabbing the MDF, you can get (I can't remember the name of them) some blind nuts that hammer into the opposite side of the wood and the screws will screw into them. It makes for a nice, tight seal.

The nuts Robb is referring to are called Tee nuts. I used them in the construction of my box along with some wide-thread screws to hold the subs in place. I would definitely recommend them if your subs weigh more than like 10 lbs :). The ones I used were 1/2" deep, so when hammered into 3/4" MDF, they really reinforce the wood.

I have a question again... Are going to use the chambers that sit over the wheel wells or are they just there for looks?

The chambers over the wheel wells are just there for looks.

That looks awesome

thats really nice... good job..

Well, I transplanted my current system into the box. It sounds great. I'm waiting for the 3 Comp VRs to arrive. I need another amp, I'm thinking I'm going to run all three subs from a tri-way compatible amp. Seems like a better solution than the one I mentioned earlier.

Also, can you power a neon from the 12V power wire on an amp?

indeed you can but i wouldnt tap the wire direct from theamp itself, if ur gonna have 2 amps, then run 1 1/0 awg wire back to a small fuse/distibution block. then run ur amp wires and neons off of it

by the way how did the ends turn out? got pics?

Well, I got the 3rd VR yesterday. Now I just gotta get my Kicker KX800 to power these to the max.

If anybody's interested, I may have a Kicker ZR240 amp for sale soon, it's the 2000 model. I have pics if you'd like. PM me to make an offer.

BTW, I know it's dirty!

The box turned out really nice bro!! Where did you mount the amps or where do you plan on mounting them?

looks awesome.. just one thing.. is it just me that sees a line going across the car from quarterpanel to quarterpanel in that last pic?

looks fantastic hartman! great job!

i think thats the sunlight reflecting in from the lift gate being up jssong

The amps are being mounted on the back of the box. The white lines are sunlight reflections. When I get my new amp and get everything cleaned up, I'll post more pics.

Hartamn-- Are you just mounting them to the back of the box? I am about to finish my box off also, thinking of mounting the amos on top or the back but behind Lexan with a couple of fans, Do you think if I mount them in the back with the fan and Lexan that they will get enough airflow due to being so close to the seats?

I'm really not worried about the amps overheating, they should have plenty of air being mounted on the back of the box. Plus the amp I am getting has fans built in, so I'm not worried. The reason I mounted the amps on the back instead of on the top is simple, I don't want the amps to be in plain view if someone looks into my truck.
