thank you, that tells you how much i know about cars.

anyway, looking at it and already looked at some instructions it looks fairly easy to replace, do both front ones need to be replaced at once ?

Unless you're using OEM end links, replace both since the lengths may be different. GL

I replaced both myself the other day, wasn't too bad, thanks again for the help, now tomorrow I'll be trying to change the spark plugs, its a 4.0, now the set of plugs I picked are Bosch platinum +4, are they any good?

Those Bosch +4 things are junk and not worth the extra $$. Just use a double platinum plug since the 4.0 uses a waste spark system and the 06 Explorer came from the factory with a hybrid platinum plug setup. A good double platinum will give you a solid 75K miles before needing to be replaced again and most likely you will have to replace the spark plug wires and coil pack before you need to touch them again since your vehicle is at over 116K miles now (I am assuming that those components are still original).

Ditto. With more than 20 possible choices, Bosch +4 is probably the WORST. Search, you'll see why.

Unless you need practice removing them, use the OEM AutoLite XP or AP5143 Series Platinums. GL

thanks for the advice, i went back to the store and swapped them out for autolite, i hope all goes well tomorrow.

i still have that issue when coming to a stop, you hear the engine revving a few short times.

alright all plugs replaced, they didn't look as nasty as i thought they would, but they do have a big gap compared to the new ones.
as for the noise and engine revving up, i took it to the dealer and took a drive with someone from the service department, the noise only happens when the A/C is on, they said is normal, that sometimes the A/C compressor or whatever makes the engine rev up to keep the air flowing, but it just sounds odd, i've had this vehicle for about 2 years and just now i noticed this, so do all 4th gen explorers do this?

If the AC system is getting low and needs to be recharged then it could be cycling harder and more frequently than it used to.
