Plastic Bondage

On my 1991 Explorer 4 door, The leather arm rest broke. The fracture was between the big center console and the plastic between arm rest. I have tried PVC cement, and a few other glue agents. Nothing has been strong enough, any ideas?

You may be able to go out to a junk yard and find one for cheap there. Not sure the quality that you'll find but it wont be broken. Just my .02.

Call your local ford dealer - there is a replacement part, that is steel and plastic. Once you get it, go here:

the dealer has a great updated part to fix them they run about $25 they are steel and plastic and if you have a die-grinder it will take you 15 minits to do it

Just thought I'd add this to the thread. It isn't the center armrest, but the armrest on the door itself.

The plastic tabs that the screws hold onto had broken apart and I had thought about a way to repair rather than buy new pads. Taking JB Weld and filling the hole, I waited til the glue had partially set. I then put the screws in from the backside and let it set up the rest of the way. The pad is now securely attached and hopefully won't come off again. Price, nothing....I had the tubes of JB Weld from a previous job. Hope someone else finds this helpful.

JB Weld

The door handle broke on my Daytona about two years ago. I JB Welded it and it is still holding strong. I put some of the center wire out of some coax cable I had lying around in the JB Weld across the break for extra support. Make sure to use JB Quik Weld. It hardens in about 1 hour instead of 24 hours like regular JB Weld.
