Hey Guys!

I'm new to the forum, and recently purchased a '96 XLT V8.

Anyways, the Vertical Plastic Corners in between rear window and side rear windows @ the rear corners of the truck have pretty much faded from their black plastic to a grey and some of the plastic looks to maybe have dried out so much as to expose some metal? underneath the black...

Any suggestions/detail tips on how to restore them to black? Will some armor all work? Wax? Polish? Thoughts?

Anyone successfully restored these?

Some people have repainted theirs using black auto spray paint. I'm sure someone here will chime in with the exact details.

I have repainted mine. You can restore yours quite easily. If you have unpainted metal showing..you will need to put a coat or two of primer on these areas.

You will need to use a fine grit sandpaper to prep the areas to be painted..then use Laquer thinner or Prep All to clean the surface area to be painted. You will have to use primer to cover any bare metal.
You can use either laquer or enamel canned spray paint to do the job. If you use laquer paint get the laquer based primer....enamel based paint--enamel primer.

Do a good job on taping/masking off the parts you are going to paint and in no time at all.......ta da...a restored paint job!!!

Did you remove the pieces before you painted? or did you paint while still on the truck?
