i have a mp3 player with one of those tapes you stick in the tape player so you can listen to it in the car, and when i put the tape in to play my music one of two things will happen. 1) the tape will play for a few minutes, then the car will decide randomly to just switch sides of the tape. i here a clicking noise then it will say on the radio display "side 1" then another set of clicks and back to "side 2". this will happen every 30 seconds or so. 2) the second thing that happens is the tape will just come right back out when i put it in, this also happens after it has flipped sides of the tape for a while. i've tried cleaning the tape player and buying a new tape adaptor thing and it still isn't working. anybody know how to program the tape player to not randomly switch sides?

They're a pain- the factory tape players don't like those. The tapes provide too much friction, and the player reads that as the end of the tape, and thus changes sides. Some people use them, but most everyone I know has the same issues. I had the issue in my '95 and also in my '99 SHO.

I gave up and put in a cheap Pioneer with a front aux input and just run a patch cord with 2 male ends on it, plug one into the MP3, the other into the face of the radio.

thanks for the help

Thankyou I geuss I'll have to breakdown and get a new radio..

THIS is the one I have... Expandable and has everything I've ever needed in functions.

I use an FM transmitter. Works awesome. :salute:

I also have a head-unit with an AUX jack. Works great with the cord, I don't know what the technical name is but it's basically a cord with headphone jacks on both ends. Sound quality is great, with no noticeable distortion or loss of quality like you get with other methods (like the kind that broadcast it to a preset radio station). I think the best way to go is get a HU with an auxiliary jack.

I believe mine is a JVC.

If you have an ipod, it's best to spend the extra 20$ and get one that's ipod ready. The HU has a builtin ipod cable that chills in your glove compartment and you control everything through the HU. Personally, I think it's the coolest thing since sliced bread. Aux in comes pretty close to direct connect and you probably won't notice the difference.
