I have a bad vibration in the rear part of my explorer. Here is everything i have eliminated that i was told it could be. Pinon angle at the rear is almost inline with driveshaft, i put stiffer springs under it, new tranz mount, the driveshaft is inline, all the fluids are full, new ujoints. Idk what else to do?

Did you have the driveshaft balanced? The fluids are new, but have the gears been touched before? Are you sure they're all meshing correctly? What about tires? Have you rotated them to see if the vibration goes away?

I had a problem after playing in the mud and soon realized that there was mud caked on the inside of my rim that through the balance off on the tires that could be your problem. If you play in the mud.

is it around 60-70 mph?

You need to balance your wheels. When you have that done, make sure you have the tech inspect the tires for out of round. It happens often especially when you ride on unbalanced wheels for a long time.

yea right about 68 the vibration started

May just be the standard X shake. No matter what it's still there. Read up on it.

I worked on it last night and i believe it really is the pinion angle cuz i had my rear in line with my driveshaft and my tranz just whatever and it was bad cuz its a sport 2 door so its a shorter wheelbase. I took all the shims i had out and it almost has the same angle on the rear as it does on the tranz now and the vibration is pretty much gone. Every once in a while you feel a little vib but i want to put another ujoint on the tranz side to see what that does for me. I would like to add a grease fitting to the slide yoke on the driveshaft but will it unbalance it? And if not then how could i do so.

I don't see how the pinion angle will cause a vibration? You sure the drive shaft is balanced? Is the pinion bearing bad?

All i changed was the pinion angle and it was fine. In the explorer sports the tranz is only about 31/2 feet (straight across) from the rear. With a 6 inch lift it puts the driveshaft on a decent slope. The driveshaft is the same stock driveshaft and i have never had any problem with that driveshaft. The pinion bearing is good i checked it.

Has your truck been sitting for a while if so your tires might have flat spots and youll need to get new tires. Also make sure yo ur lug nuts are tight. I got new tires on before and then didnt tighten them properly and it caused a vib. Check body mounts to

yea it was 2 years ago for 2 years but i have already put 2 grand in it and it has newer tires on it.

Not there yet! Aaaahhhhhh

I now am having a slight almost like jumping between 40 and 60. Everything is set right with angle and all. Everything looks and feels perfect. But there is grease ozzing out of my ujionts and it splaters all across the underneath of my x. I can feel it in the shifter. Its not horrible but i am worried about it. It gets worse the longer your drive it. I have about a inch and half of driveshaft in my slip yoke and the ujionts dont move if i try to wiggle the drive shaft so idk.

I have desided to say screw it and put in a double cardan h yoke and change out the ujoints for no maintanace ujoints instead of greasable ones.

When you changed the u-joints did you maintain the yoke to shaft orientation? That is to say, did you mark the yoke and shaft to make sure you put it together the way it was balanced? When I changed the gears in my old stang I had to have the driveshaft balanced. I have heard guys put two worm clamps on the driveshaft, turn one slightly, drive it, change it again, drive it, etc repeat until your vibration is gone. Can't hurt. Def sounds like your DS is out of balance to me...

You are running a STOCK driveshaft with 6in of lift? You need a longer shaft buddy.

I still have a inch and a half of driveshaft in my slip yoke so the lenght is not my problem. I am tired of fighting it so i am just going to install a cv joint on the transfer case side of my driveshaft reset my angle on the rear and and have it balanced that way i know i wont have to worrie about it.

You sure 1 1/2 is enough? I have no experience with that much lift, just asking.
