I did try to search guys and will continue to do so. My 2003 4.0 explorer has run great and had 80k I had plugs and wires and fuel filters done 10k ago. it just died three days ago while driving and after complete stop it restarted. today after running for good while the idle was dropping way low, almost died but didnt. from the search i found that two highly probable areas that might fix would be replace the IAC valve and do new top and bottom intake gaskets. Does this sound like a good course of action? I have to drive this car everday and going to the dealer is probably unrealistic due to time and money. I watched some videos but the 4.0 went through so many different variations it is hard to tell exactly what i need. I figured you guys are best source of help.
1- does this sound like the items i should replace? with 80k the gaskets probably cannot hurt
2 - with this year model 4.0 do i need to order new valve cover gaskets too? I read that in my search?
3 - should i get these parts direct from ford or? anybody have part numbers?
thanks for any advice
