This site has saved me before, and I hope it can save me again....
Long story short, 2000 ford explorer limited awd:
- Recently had the transmission rebuilt (2000 miles ago) after the od flash of death occured.
- What is happening now is when it is snowy or wet on the roads, there will be a sudden thump with no rhyme or reason.
- It doesn't matter what speed, it could be 40 or 65 mph.
- The tach doesnt move when the thump occurs.
- All the tires are the same size, type, and brand.
The funny thing is, when I put it into 4X4 High, the problem goes away. This sudden thump doesn't occur when it is dry on the roads. No check engine light comes on or has come on
I am an amateur when it comes to cars, but when I had the trans rebuilt, it came with a warranty. Is this problem trans related? Any guidence would be appreciated. I just don't want to get screwed if I take it to the mechanic.
Thanks Explorer Nation!
