It seems to me that I have a very odd-ass question. When traveling up long grades going out to the high desert or mountains, I inevitably have to downshift into 4th gear. In 4th, I don't gas the hell out of it, cuz I know I can't hold 5th, so what's the point? Anyway, after I'm holding 4th easily at about 2ooorpm and crest the hill, I shift back into 5th like the normal person would. I have manual 5 speed by the way, and so my problem is: when I upshift back into 5th, The gas pedal sticks hard in the idle position. I have to kind of stomp on it to get it to move freely again before I let back out the clutch. By this time, I am losing rpm's again from ****ing around with the pedals and have to push it back up to cruisin rpm's in 5th.

Could it be anything w/ the butterfly valve or accelerator cable?

This is pissing me off to an extraordinarily insane level and I would greatly appreciate it if anybody would reply...even if just to say "I have no f'n idea" Thank you

Go buy a can of 3M intake cleaner, wait till your engine is cool, and go to town on the TB/Upper intake, then wipe clean with a rag.

A little bit of lubricant on all the joints wouldn't hurt either. My '95 used to have a sticky pedal, and a little lube sprayed where the cable connects to the throttle body helped solve the problem.

WD-40 will work, but I'd suggest a synthetic silicone spray so it'll last a lot longer.
