Ok I will try and keep this short. I have a 2003 ford explorer EB and I cant get my windsheild wiper fluid to work. Could some one tell me fuse and/or relay location. Everything else works And I replaced the pump with a brand new one an still nothing. I tested the old pump after i took it out an it still worked. So it seems like its not getting power. Any help would be appreciated. Its not fun in Pennsylvania winters not to have washer fluid.

Anyone have any suggestion? This thing is driving me nuts.

Do you still have the owner's manuel? The fuse diagram and location should be there, also look under the top of the fuse boxes, there should be a diagram there also, I just don't have a diagram for your year.

Maybe the lines are clogged??? I had the tips in my 03 explorer clogg up, just took a needle and problem was solved..

Thank you for the replys. I have looked everywhere for a fuse or relay location with no luck. I do have the owners book an in my book there is nothing about washer pump. I will check to see if the tips are cloged when the wife gets home. If anyone has anyother sugestions please feel free.

Fuse 21 under the hood powers the wash pump but also the wiper motor. There is also fuse 4 in the cab that is part of the circuity. If you have wipers, then it's not a fuse problem.

The relay for the front pump looks integral the front wiper motor. There is a processor and relay that controls the front pump. But, there is a contact from the rear wash pump relay also in the circuit. It appears they did not want both pumps running at the same time. One or the other is alll that is allowed. As such, if this relay contact is bad, then this could prevent front wash pump. This relay is integral to the rear wiper motor.

Pull the connector and check for 12 V on the BLK/WHT when pushing the front wash. If you get it, then the relay and front motor stuff is good.

Next, check to see if the rear wash relay contact is closed. With ohm meter, check for continuity on the Violet/Lt. Green conductor to ground . If this shows open, then the problem is in the rear wash relay.

The way i understand it there only is one pump for the windsheils and the back glass

I beleive the washer pump relay fuse is #12 (10 amp) on the interior fuse panel.

Since you already have experience changing the pump, did you take a voltmeter reading at the pump? That should tell you if there is an electrical problem.

Also, did you check to see if the tubes were connected? Many times, the pressure from ice will cause the tubes to disconnect at the hood end.

I was unaware but the wiring diagram supports that.

One call for the pump can come from the front system and one from the back. The rear relay is controlled by the rear microprocessor in the rear wiper motor assembly. The front relay is controlled by the front microprocessor in the front wiper motor assy.

The check I described should be able to get the problem pinpointed.

I would like to thank you FordFool2 we solved the problem. The rear wiper motor had burn out a few months ago I got a used one pluged it in an it wouldnt work so i just left it go. Well tonight i was looking at the under the hood fuse panel an the fuse for the rear wiper was burn out. So I replaced it an put the rear wiper motor back in and it works as does my washer pump.

I would like to thank everyone for there replys. And for FordFool2 for making me realise that the front an rear wiper systems are linked together to a point
