please somebody help

hello guys, i am a new member here and i am all the way from the bahamas. i drive a 1999 XLS 4 door explorer which up until recently gave me no problems. i noticed that it would stutter when i turned the wheel hard left then the powere steering started leaking out. i found that it was coming from the bottom and draining form that blck thing that looks liek an accordion, i took it to a mechanic shop here and they told me that i need a new rack but there is a guy who would fix it for $300-$400, now this is the bahamas and things are way pricey here, i checked online and saw that i could buy a new rack for that price. what i want to know is, could this really be the problem and is there some other way i can resolve this, i am not driving it now because i soon as i park all of my power steering drains out from under there, i am buying 2-3 bottles a day, can someone please advise me on this :exp:

If the fluid is comming out of the boot, the only way to cure the problem is to replace the rack unit.

thanks alot mike, im thinking that it would be cheaper to buy in the states,so tell me how much am i looking to turn out for the unit in the states for my model explorer?
