Hello. I recently purchased a set of Ford Motorsport wires for my '96 V8, but made a stupid mistake. I got the ones with the post-type terminals, not the socket-type snap on ones that I need. Do you guys know if there are any adapters or anything I can do to be able to use this set of wires? I suppose as a last resort I could buy a set of the correct terminals, cut the post-type ones off and crimp on the socket-type. Any thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

why not just take them back?

If you got the ford wires, which i can almost bet you had to get from a FORD DEALER...why did they sell you the wrong wires?? didn't you have to at one time during your time there say what kind of truck you had?
I would just take them back. thats just me, its simple easy and the cheapest way.

i wouldnt reccomend altering the wires unless you know what youre doing and have the equip for it, you need those wires to be as reliable as possible

Thank you gentlemen. That's the answer that I expected, I guess. The reason that I didn't just return them immediately is that I ordered them from a dealer in Boston and I'm in Denver. I did provide the make/model/engine, etc..., so it shouldn't be a problem. I've been using this guy for parts for my 99 Mystique for some time and the wires were part of a larger order of misc. performance parts. SVT Contour parts drop right in to the Mystique Duratec V6.

After taking into account all of the pro/con threads on this message board and others that I am a part of, I replaced the plugs with the Bosch +4's. I had hoped to pair them with the Motorsport wires, but I guess that won't happen. I'll have to look for other aftermarket wires or just stay with the stock set.

Thanks Again.

If you got them from Bill Jenkins http://www.contour.org
He'll replace them fo you. Hes a good guy. I have a Contour as well, although I have never bought anything from him.

As a matter of fact, it was Bill Jenkins. I know he is a great guy and has always helped me out in the past. That's one of the reasons I didn't want to bother him with a return if there was another solution. I guess I'll have to give him a call.

I don't think that Ford Motorsport has plugwires for the 302 and DIS ignition. That's why I ended up ordering Taylor Wires Spyro plug wires.

I think that you are correct. They make a universal, "crimp-it-yourself", set that comes with both types of terminals, but then you need to buy the crimping tool as well in order to do it properly. All of the research I should have done prior to hastily tacking them on to my order, almost as an afterthought. Live and learn. I just talked with Bill and it won't be a problem to return the wires.

How do you like the Taylors? Do you mind if I ask how much they cost?

Thanks,

Well, it appears that MSD makes an adapter called the Power Tower that would allow me to use these wires. But, at $60 for the adapters plus the $45 I spent on the wires initially, I could almost get a set of Magnecors. Looks like I'll be back on the stock wires for a while until I have some time to do a little more research.

Thanks for the replies.

Check out Magnecor for more info about plug wires in general.

I purchased my Magnecor wires from Cyberspace Automotive. They had the best price on Magnecor wires that I could find and had great service.
