1999 explorer 4x4
Hi. Just changed the spark plug wires in my 1999 explorer, 4.0 OHV V6. Came out about an hour later and heard a radio playing. Turns out it was coming from my explorer. No key in the ignition or anything, just playing by itself. I turned it off and the clock is still on. I did not disconnect the battery while I changed the wires. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this? The clock should not be on unless the ignition switch is turned on. Also, will just leaving the clock on drain the battery overnight or just not worry about that.

Have you opened the drivers door since you discovered this? I'm wondering if the power retention feature wasn't cancelled if you were reaching through an open window to start the engine. If so, the power to the radio and windows will be available until you open the drivers door.

i've done that myself.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have been in and out of the ford several times and the radio is still coming on after shutdown. Didn't think about the power retention feature. Right now, I'm just pulling the fuse after I shut off the engine.

Have you had this truck a long time? Maybe someone hot wired it to fuse box or battery
