I have a tv installed in my car that also has a tv tuner. I bought an FM Modulator to get the sound over my car speakers, but after i installed my modulator my radio gets very poor reception (it does play the tv sound over the speakers). why is this? is there anything i can do? This is my second modulator and it still does the same thing so it can't be the mod.

THanks!

if you switch back to just plugging the stock antenna into the HU is it ok? If so, it's a loose connection or the drawback of an FM modulator.

Yes, if i plug the antenna back into the HU the reception is back to normal. This is my second FM modulator and both did the same thing.

Were the 2 modulators the same brand?

Sometimes FM modulators work and people swear by them, but more often it's just a mediocre solution to not having another HU input.

You could try one that sends an actual radio signal and that doesn't plug into the antenna port.

Its the nature of thr FM Modulator, im afraid. They ALWAYS degrade your signal.

How is the modulator installed? Is it being turned off when you want to listen to normal radio? If it's always on that would be a problem. Also, if your factory antenna plugs are 90 degree plugs, make sure they are going all the way into the modulator's plugs. You might have to straighten them out a bit to get them all the way in.
