poor mans rattle proofing?

anybody know any good ideas for makin my expo wrattle proof in the door panels and back cargo area? i kno to use dynamat but that gets waaaay to expensive so i was just wondering if anybody in here could give me a much cheaper way of doing it? thanks..

I bought some Fatmat on ebay. It runs $50 for 33sq.ft or $100 for 100sq. ft. I think. Goto www.fatmat.com and check it out. I think it works just as good as dynamat and I did all 4 doors and my rear liftgate (double-bagged the liftgate) with the 33sq ft package.

I used a material called Ice & Water Gard, sold at housing contractor supply places. It cost me $40 for 100 sq. feet, and I ended up using about 180 sq. feet for all of my Sport.

Lifted95X, how well did that stuff work? seems like a much cheaper method, im thinking of doing something similar.

it seemed to work pretty well. I doubt it works as well as dynomat or something like that, but it is very inexpensive, and more door has a different sound now when closing it.

I also have used the Roofing material for my Ex'. Can't remeber the exact name of it, but I did purchase it from Lowe's I beleive a 6"x25' roll was around $12.00. No, it probably doesnt compete with Dynamat, but I'm not a sound competitor and was only looking for a way to reduce the road noise. I applied it to the inside of the door and the inside of the door under the door panel. I could definitely tell a difference when shutting the door and even when just putting my key in the door to unlock. Haven't done the remainder of the truck yet, but only the two doors. Look forward to doing the rest of the truck. Good Luck!

i did one door and the rear floor...i havent had enough time to get it all done. Upon completing my door though, it sounded more solid when i closed it.

I bought 100 Sq Ft of fatmat www.fatmat.com a couple weeks ago and installed it everywhere. 2 layers on the rear hatch, one layer on each of the 4 doors and 1 layer covering the entire floor. Road noise was reduced considerbly, now when driving you cant hardly hear any road noise, just nice and quiet...There are no rattles anywhere in the truck, and when the windows are up, and ive got the system on pretty loud, you can hardly hear it outside the truck...Its definatly worth the 100 bux...

I think you are referring to "Peal & Seal". It is a roofing material that comes in a roll with a white and blue label. I used this on my Maxima and it works awesome. I've seen Dynomat Extreme and it is the same stuff. Basically an asphalt based material with a reflective coating.

When you are putting it on, I would get it nice and hot with a heat gun. It sticks to the crevaces very nice then
