pop noise.... tanny has no gears!

went to take off from a stop and heard a pop noise and then the engine just reved...

i tried to put it in a gear but nothing happen. did something disconnect or is my tranny toast.

please help!!!

That happened to me once, it was my driveshaft. If it is your driveshaft, you will be able to see it hanging.

i went underneath it and everything is fine- driveshaft is connected. i also moved the gears using the side linkage and it moved but nothing happen. i can kinda of hear some noise coming from the tranny but it's not getting any louder.

any other suggestions?

trans has no gears

I had the same thing happened and the torque converter had busted loose from the fly wheel and disengaged from the pump there wasn't any way to tell until I took it apart...hope this info helps It was a loud bang or pop and then there was no gears at all...
