I have a 2013 limited AWD with 136 thousand miles. I have started noticing some noise when I hit bumps or potholes, but tonight while making a hard left turn in a parking lot on dry pavement the popping was worse and I noticed the front end skipping and lurching under mild acceleration and worsening the longer I kept turning left...tires are matched with equal inflation. I have also picked up a vibration at highway speed that seems to get gradually worse until I lift my foot off the accelerator, the vibration stops and I resume highway speed
The vibration will gradually return until I lift my foot again.

Classic cv axle symptoms
I’m no expert on the later model rigs, but from what you describe the first thing I would inspect would be your left front axle half shaft (cv axle)

I tried to recreate the problem later that night, in the same parking lot, with my wife riding along...and of course it didn't do it. That was irritating to say the least. Then I thought the conditions weren't the same. When it happened I had only driven a few blocks from a cold start..I had driven 4 or 5 miles before I tried to recreate the problem. I don't know if that has any impact on it.

I sometimes have the same issue. Only on cold start up and more then a slight turn. Start the car not cold, not a problem. Like after 10 mintues of driving. There is no sound from the wheel bearings or CV axles, front and rear. Mine is an AWD.

The reason I put the additional information about it being a cold startup was reading other people with 4X4's talking about issues they talked about cold startups. So I'm not crazy, the missus will be relieved...lol. thanks

Your Explorer isn't exactly a 4X4. It is an AWD that is FWD-biased. The AWD only kicks in when the system senses the need. This means that most of your driving is in FWD.

Same in my 2011, I have to get up to speed, let off and gradually push her down🤷🏼‍♀️ it's annoying but more worrisome to me bcuz I travel with kids. Let us know if you got it fixed!? What it was? I'm new here so bare with me hahaha 🤣
I'm clueless how this works.

The member you quoted was last seen here on March 9th so hopefully is still around.
Have you taken the vehicle to the dealer to have it checked out?
