Popping Sound

Hey guys, quick question. When I make a right-hand turn I hear a popping sound around or from the right rear tire. I made a couple sharp right turns just to be sure of where the sound was coming from. I know the information is vague but does anyone have an idea of what it might be? Hopefully this weekend I'll have some time to remove the tire but I wouldn't know what to look for. Any ideas??

you would be surprised at how many people think a noise is coming from the rear when its really the front making hte noise... i would first look at the balljoints, and tierods and torsion bars up front and then shocks (front and rear)

also, just as a note, i am an alignment/suspension tech, so i actually have had firsthand experience with people thinking its clunking in the rear when in reality was a bad tierod or balljoint..... also in case of clunking, the u joint comes to mind, but that normally occurs with all sudden changes in speed

Jim is right, the most common cause of popping on an X is the balljoints. The stockers are crap. Inspect the upper and lower balljoints and replace as necessary.

Oh, replace them with Moog if you can afford it.

i replaced mine with Carquest Balljoints,

they were about 40 bucks a piece

FYI, the Carquest house supplier for suspension parts is Moog.

Ok, I've been on this board a little to long to ask this question but when I inspect the ball joints what should I be looking for? I've never had this problem before.

And if I do find something wrong how hard are they to replace? Thanks for the help guys!
