Ported or Sealed

i am aware that the sealed boxes are cheaper but you have to buy a stronger amp. what would be the best way to go? i was told that since i dont have a overpowering amp ported would be the way to go.
i listen to heavy metal and rock and roll. i think one 12 would work since i have a 10 and it is not as loud as i want it.

I would go with ported because you can tune your box to what you want. I also listen to rock, punk, etc. I had one 12" in a ported box, tuned to what i thought was a good frequency. then i used the EQ on the amp and on the HU to get it sounding right. Also if your gonna have a lot of bass i recommend buying some decent mid basses with tweeters (unless you have some already) because bass with rock, the stock speakers dont give the mids or highs any justice!

if you amp doesnt have a decent x-over (or one at all) i recommend buying a x-over.

x-over = crossover if you didnt know
