ported sub box

i bought a rockford fosgate 12' P2 sub a few months ago, i have it in a sealed 14 by 18 by 10 inch custom box, it hits pretty damn good for only 300 watts but id like it a little louder without putting more watts to it or buying another sub. i have a buddy whos got a 12' digital design in a box about the same size, now hes got 2000 watts to it but the box has a massive port coming out of the rear and the thing hits over 150 decibels. im obviously not trying to go this loud but im wondering if a port or ports would help make my sub any louder and if so how big, long, what type of material should i use etc.., any help is greatly appreciated.
