I originally posted this in the Tires and Wheels forum but I got no response so I am hoping I will have some luck here.

This is going to sound crazy and probably wont work but here goes: I want to get a set of Cobra-R's on performance tires for the summer and leave my Goodyears on the factory rims for the winter. While I have the Cobra-R's on can I remove the factory hub to make them fit better? If so will this cause any problems to my axles or something? I only use the four wheel drive during the winter for the snow anyways. Thanks in adavance for any help.

i dont think so...but some of the guys have knock-off cobra-r that allow them to keep the hubs.....hope you have fun tommorow...sorry i wont be attending but it is just way too cumbersome....

Just out of curiousity, why wouldn't it work? I don't see why there would be problem with it because the hubs only get engaged when the four wheel drive becomes engaged and I do not plan on using the four wheel drive during the summer with the new rims anyway.

without the cover your bearings will suck up water and crud

O ok, Do you know if there is a possible cover for this by any chance?

i have no clue. but i would think no as parts still protrude from the center like spindle nut and stuff

You can Use Spacers for Cobra R's and keep your Hubs on. Talk to Mud*****. He had this Set up on his 91...

I don't want to use the spacers because I am pretty sure they make your wheels stick out past the wheel wells and I really don't like that look. I was hoping to find a way to get the Cobra-R's on there without having them stick out a lot.
