I am trying to help a friend diagnose a no start condition. Sometimes the truck won't start, (2000 4.0L) then she jiggles the shifter handle and it starts.
In my opinion, it's the Neutral Safety switch on the tranny. Could it be anything else? Thanks.
I have had same problem. After a day of troubleshooting it ended up being a bracket holding the shifter cable. The bracket had come loose which made the shifter loose so when you thought you were putting it in gear it wouldn't fully engage or if you thought it was in park it was actually inbetween P and R.
The bracket is above the steering column under the dash. If you stand on your head and look up under the dash you can find the shifter cable and just follow it up and down to find the bracket. The bolt takes a star bit I'm not sure on the size.
