2005 XLT Sport
Hi everyone,

This is my first post here and I have a pretty simple question: I have a 2005 XLT Sport with cloth interior that we bought in February. My girlfriend would kill for the heated leather seats that were optional on the Explorer. Is it possible for me to install the leather seats and have the heat option function properly? I know some vehicles are pre-wired for certain options on all vehicles even though a specific vehicle may not be equipped with that feature. I was wondering if that might be the case with our Explorer.

Even if the heated seats feature can't be retro-fitted, she'd still be happy with just having the leather seats so I still may look into doing the swap anyways.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Fast Toys has a universal kit that can be added to the seats for either side. Plus they can come with different levels of heat, the switch for it can be placed anywhere you want for a custom look. Keep in mind though that heated seats and leather means more care and upkeep. You wouldn't want them to dry out and crack causing more cost. Here is a direct link to their heater page: http://fasttoys.net/shop/index.php?cPath=821&osCsid=7a68089d7dd22c2474b12b57dfbeaa78

Thanks for that link. Those look pretty nice for being aftermarket. I wonder how well they work. Do you or anyone you know of have any experience with these?

As far as the added upkeep of the leather and/or heated seats, you are correct about those issues. We our Explorer for hauling our two dogs around and the leather would certainly help with the easiness of cleaning the vehicle. Plus, my girlfriend would be happier with the leather. So, I guess it would be worth it.
