Possible to move leaf springs above axle?

Anybody tried to move their leaf springs above the axle without a lift? If you did, what all did you have to do? How much would that lift it? Degrading ride quality?

What you are referring to is a spring over lift, I believe that Rick has done it to his Explorer, among many others on this site. You will gain a few good inches of lift and increase articulation. I have a recent offroad magazin that did a comparison with a "real" lift and a spring over lift. I have not performed such a lift, but if you do a search of the site for info on it, I am sure you will find something.

I believe that the spring over is part of the 5.5" lift kit. So if you do the spring over it will gain a lift of about 5.5 inches.
