That's pretty scary. Now I know what it would be like if I were tied down and James was coming toward me with a mask, goggles and a syringe.

no. i dont use crystal meth. only alcohol. if you are currently "riding the snake" then i suggest you seek help.

No idea where the crystal meth came into play there. hehe. I was meaning continueing with the Cobra theme you got going under your hood like me. The intake plate???? I saw that. hehe. That was my guess was a Cobra emblem on the front grille.

sorry, when i hear things about "fast snakes" i think of the white trash drug known as meth. probably a southern inside joke that no one here knows. anyway, i was drunk and J/K.

the insert will have no emblems on it. it will also be something never seen on any explorer before. :D

Have a few more beers James... we want to know what it is. :D

chris- come to the chat you lazy *******. :p

alright, enough with the horseplay...

here's what im doing. intake "hole" in the front bumper has been welded up. originally i made a fiberglass bumper cover to go over the bumper and top trim, but it didnt turn out like i planned. so, front bumper will remain welded as a "smoothie bumper", and bumper trim will be de-grained.

the grill will be de-chromed, and painted white also. for an insert, im getting a SpeedGrill for an F150 and cutting it down to fit mine. that way, i will have a speedgrill that will cover the entire opening.

airdam will be the Honest Charlie/Hartman one, with cheapo WalMart fogs.

currently, ive just about got the bumper done and ready to prime. ive gotta work all weekend, so ill have pics of it up as soon as i can Monday afternoon.

no updated pics, as the truck isnt "updated". :D

im still waiting on the grill insert and the airdam to get here. work on the bumper and grillshell has been slow due to weather. we've had massive flooding here; closed streets, cars underwater, etc. im not laying down any more primer since its STILL raining.

anyway, here's the bumper in its "almost ready" form. sorry for such a crappy pic...

to degrain, this is all you gotta do-

1- prep surface, prime one light coat with an etching primer

2- follow this with many coats of filler primer, with lots of sanding in between. spray a coat, sand it all off, spray a coat, sand it all off etc. etc.

each time you sand the filler primer off, you leave behind primer in the "grain". it takes about 6-8 coats/sanding to get it smooth.

Looks good so far.

Looks like a completely different bumper. Nice job!
