Was looking into making a snorkel for my 99 xlt. I have checked the forums and seen a couple of good plans. I plan on making it out of 3" pvc since I have pipe and fittings readily available. I was curious how much of a performance difference would I notice if indeed I installed the snorkel? Would the engine still be able to suck in enough air? What about backpressure? How to keep rain out? I just want to get an idea of what I would have to deal with if I did the snorkel. I don't want to go through the trouble of fabricating and installing the snorkel and have it negatively affect my explorer, and I end up removing it. Thanks for your help guys.
