I recently installed a Pioneer DEH-1600. After I finished the installation, my power antenna didn't go up anymore. I have the antenna plugged into where i think it should go and I have checked this more than once. Has this happened to anyone else, or is there something I am doing wrong?

If you are sure you have the right power antenna wire, not the amp turn on lead, you may not have enough juice coming out of the HU's power antenna wire. Try putting in a relay between the HU and the antenna. I've never had to do this, but that may be the problem.

Does anyone know of anything special about the power antenna in Explorers?

well, how did you hook yours up? did you plug the antenna wire into the input on the left side, or connect it with the HU power antenna wire. If you did that, how did you do it? Thanks.

Sorry, I haven't put an aftermarket HU in mine yet. Just all my other vehicles.

There are multiple wires comming out of the antenna? What do you mean "into the input on the left side"? If it is confusing, can you post a picture?

Most head units have a power antenna wire and a remote turn on for amplifiers. I have put a relay on the remote turn on for my 3 amps and crossover. I was thinking you could do the same for the antenna.

What happens to the antenna when you just give it 12V from the battery? That should be a good test of the antenna.

The wiring harness I bought doesn't have an antenna wire. After everything is hooked up (speakers, battery, etc.)it just has illumation, negative illumination, and chassis ground left over. The remote wire from my amp is spliced to the remote wire from the head unit. Then there is a thick wire coming from the antenna with a 90 degree end that plugs into the back of the HU. I have that wire plugged into where it should go, and it still doesn't work. I tried chassis ground to the remote wire, and that did not work. I know illumination and negative illumination aren't supposed to be hooked up to the remote wire, but it's the only other option. I don't know.
