Power door lock lights staying illuminated

I just recently acquired this 2000 Explorer Sport and had to replace the battery. I noticed that the power door lock lights stay on. They're always on, and they're the only lights that stay on. Are they supposed to stay on? I'm wondering if they aren't supposed to stay on, and this is what caused the previous battery to die.

I take it you mean they stay on when the key is out of the ignition. I don't believe mine do that so that could be a slight drain on your battery.
