'92 EB
I have a '92 EB and something weird started happening today. My driver's side door lock switch does not work at all suddenly. The passenger side switch works fine locking and unlocking all 4 doors. I removed the driver side switch and discovered then that the passenger side switch doesn't work if the driver side switch is removed. So I cleaned the driver side switch, put it back and the passenger side switch works again but the driver side switch still doesnt.
So its obvious that these two switches are dependent on each other. I don't believe the wires are broken on the driver's side because I believe if they were, the passenger side switch wouldn't work either. This is confusing and weird too, if I hold down the driver side switch to unlock nothing happens except the passenger side switch cant unlock while I press it. Same if I press lock. So my question for you electrical guys out there is: what is going on? Is there a relay for the door locks in a '92?

Thanks

there are relays for everything.... however, it sounds like there is an internal problem with the switch itself.....

Switch the lock switches...that way you got the unlock/lock switch on your side until you can get another one...hehehe

BTW...since we are on locks....i just put in the factory keyless entry and i was wondering if it unlocks when you put it in park or shut off the engine? cuz it locks when i push the brake to shift...but it doesnt unlock when i put it in park, turn the engine off, or pull out the key...is it suppose to???

liftgate power lock?

Does the rear door (liftgate, hatch, whatever) have a power lock solenoid on it from factory on a 97 XL with power locks? Mine does not work and its a real pita when you are used to keyless entry (sob story huh)
Alsomy drivers door lock switch does not unlock- will that have anything to do with that liftgate lock solenoid not working?

Yup its the switch. the 2 switches use the same relay if i recall. the drivers side is like a pass through for the pass side. just get yourself a nice new switch

in the 2nd generation...in the jack compartment...auxialiary relay box #2 is in there...and there is an unlock and lock relay in there...so there are 2 relays...one for each...but i dont know what the 1st generation...perhaps the same...
