I am about to buy a 1996 Ford Explorer 4.0L 4WD for my first car. It is in pretty good condition and just a few minor problems, one of which is the power locks - 2 of them dont work.

What is the replacement part(s)? And how do I install it (them)?

Thank you!

I don't have the car yet, so I can't check. Do I just check to see if they are all in place?

Well, if it's only 2 of them that don't work, it sounds like it may have either some switch problems, or lock actuator issues.

If actuators, each door has one, they're pretty cheap, like $15-$35 each.

What doors aren't working?

Thanks, I heard it was only around 60 bucks for the fix. The front drivers side door, and the rear passenger side door are not working.

That's not bad. For the driver's front, try using the key. If you can't turn it and the power lock on that door won't work at all ever (door switch, key fob, door keypad, etc.) most likely the actuator is frozen, and won't let the key turn...

Ok thank you for your help. I dont have the car yet, but I will soon.

Where abouts are you located? Might want to post that in your details, someone might be near you that can help if needed...

Lots of folks down there!
