The power up and down quit working on my 2001 ST (forward/back still worked) so I replaced the power base. Its quite an easy job.
Remove trim pieces over anchors in rear-push down while pulling back.
Remove 4 base bolts that anchor the frame to the floor
Unplug wire in the rear under the seat
Slide the front of the seat away from center console (the rear section is still attached to the seat belt track but will pivot) slightly to access bolt holding seat belt track to seat frame. There is also a nut closer to the front of the frame.
Remove seat from vehicle
Remove 4 bolts that fasten the power seat base to the seat.
Bolt the base to the seat and repeat the steps above
It is a very simple job.
The dealer wanted $1,200 to do this. The power seat frame alone at the dealer was over $500.
I found a NOS part and it works like new.
