I've been running Power Slot/Hawk combo on my long range freeway commuter for about 20K now and I recently mentioned this fact in a reply I posted in the "Need For Speed" section. My reply generated a question, in my mind. Would Hawk HPS pads on OEM quality rotors provide a significant performance increase over stock quality pads?
With the Rotor/Pad combo, I do enjoy the perfomance advantage over stock equipment but would I have been served almost as well by installing Hawk pads (or some other performance brand) and OEM quality rotors?
Pardon me if this is considered a double post because of the reply I posted in "Need For Speed".

Thanks.

Yes they do. But i dont think the performance with stock rotors would be close to that of the pwerslots. I have Hawk pads on on four wheels with stock rotors and noticed a big difference over the pfc pads i have on there before.

Thanks for the reply, Carlover. I wanted to work on a stock in every way 95 XLT and I was going to use Hawk pads but I wasn't too sure about the additional cost for the Power Slots. Maybe we'll hold off on the Power Slots on this install and see if we notice the diff between the two.
Has anyone experienced both combos? Enhanced pads with OEM and enhanced pads with Slotted?

Slotted pads really only help if you do alot of hard braking and get your brakes hot. The slots just expel gases and help cool a little. As long as your brakes are vented which they should be you'll be fine for the road and trail. If your autocrossing or running a road course I wouldn't worry about slotted rotors.

I ran non slotted rotors with performance pads on my fullsize dodge and then slotted with the same pads (forgot the brand) and never really felt a diff. If that helps at all.

Thanks Explorer97'. I kinda felt that was the case for my commuter. Panic freeway stops are as severe as it gets. I definitely need stopping power of the Hawk Pads. The XLT build is for mainly an in-town commuter. Better stopping distances are important but fade recovery from overheating isn't really a factor. Thanks for the reply.
