No Mounty no more.
In the spring I will be doing a full out brake job on my Mounataineer.
I will be replacing pads rotors & brake lines.

I will for sure be puting Power Slot rotors on the front & Hawk Ceramic pads front & rear. Would it be worth the extra $$$ to put the Power Slots on the rear as well?

I paln on go going from a 31x10.5x15 to a 32x11.5x15 tire in the summer.

As for the brake lines should I go braided stainless steel or stick with wire braided rubber?

I will also go complete PowerSlots and Hawk when I do my next change.

With the bigger tires/rims, I would go all 4 corners with the PS/Hawk combo. Further, if it were me, I would go SS bradded lines as well.

Good luck and keep us advised on your project.

Thank you Al.

Where is a good place to get SS braided lines from. I doubt any of the parts stores handle them.

Brooklyn Summit is who I'm going to get the rotors & pads from. I'll check & see if they have the brake lines also.

I hope so. One stop shopping is nice:)

Well I checked Summit & all that they listed is First Gen Explorers for SS lines & Rock Auto only has the rubber hoses.

Thank you Al.

Beats me, my friend, I have yet to find any myself. I understand they may need to be custom made by a speed shop or a hydraulic shop. Let us know what you find.

I'll see what I can find.

What sucks is the company I work for (an industrial supplier) makes hydraulic hoses and handles braided stainless steel hose.

I even work in the department that orders the hose & fittings & helps our stores determine what the correct hose is they should sell to our customers.

The problem is we are not automotive authorized so we can't by the fittings to make brake hoses:mad:

How's that for irony.

Maybe you can get the automotive fitings somewhere and have your facility make the hose(s).

You can't mix different vendors on hydraulic hoses. Each vendor has there own specific crimp specifications. If it does not crimp correctly the fitting can blow off or leak.
