So I recently changed out my old red, rusty looking powersteering fluid for fresh fluid, but got some problems. I first ran a cleaning solution through the system, seafoam+cheap P/S fluid. I ran the car, and turned the wheels to let the fluids go through the vains of the system. Then immediately, I drained it, and disposed of it. I ran about 5 bottles of just cheap AutoZone P/S fluid to get my cleaning mixture and all the oil P/S fluid out. (I put a blue dye in the cleaning solution, to make sure it was all out) I did the same process of running the car and turning the wheels to get it all out. 5 bottles later, I had nothing but clean, clear fluid in my system.
After my 1000k roadtrip this weekend from SoCal to NorCal, I checked all my fluids and again, I HAVE RED, old looking fluid in my P/S System! And I noticed more P/S noise from the pump than it made with the 7yr old fluid!
