The power steering failed starting over 2 years ago. I thought I had it covered by turning the ignition off and restarting which solved the problem. Until yesterday that is when the power steering would not come on at all. I had the Explorer towed to the dealer. That's when I first learned about the "extended warranty". 140,000 miles/10 years on the power steering. I have 135,385 miles. I'm now 3 months past 10 years. If I'd have known about the warranty, and the fact the reprogramming of the module was not what was needed to fix the problem, I could have taken the Explorer in 2 years ago for a repair "free of charge". I read here that reprogramming the module was not a "fix". It's the gears. I'm looking at $2,400 for the fix. Did Ford step up for anyone else in my situation?
